Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday.
Our Kindergarten program encourages children to develop as independent and creative learners, highly motivated and actively involved in the learning process. We have dedicated teachers with specific teaching strategies directed at developing and broadening students' academic achievement and social development.
Targeted programs and specialist teachers in Music and Technology utilise 'hands-on' activities that engage the energy and curiosity of students.
To assist class planning, parents should contact the school in term 1 regarding Kindergarten enrolments for the following year.
Please note that a birth certificate or passport must be produced for all students enrolling as well as current proof of residential address.
The Public Health (Amendment) Act 1992 also requires parents to provide the school with an immunisation certificate for children enrolling in Kindergarten.
Kindy parent buddy program
We're pleased to announce the launch of a new Kindy Parent Buddy Program at our school, helping to make the transition to Kindergarten a little easier for new parents. The program teams an existing K-2 HHPS parent with a new family to provide support, share experiences and offer friendly advice over the coming months.
We have a number of experienced parents who have kindly volunteered to become buddies and we have opportunity for more K-2 parents to join the program. We're looking for a diverse group of buddies, including working parents or full time carers, mums or dads, those with additional language skills or parents of children with additional needs.
If you are interested in volunteering as a buddy, or if you know of a new family who may wish to be teamed with a buddy, please contact the program coordinator, Loretta Mitchell at email@example.com.
